TWENTY-FIVE THINGS CHRISTIANS SHOULD DO IN 2025

(Post by: Lilly Hobbs)

This is our FOURTH year publishing a post like this, and it has become one of my very favorites to create! This isn’t your typical Christian to-do list you would normally see while scrolling through Pinterest. This list is specifically curated for those who want to strive to be creatively intentional about living a deep and meaningful Christian life in 2025. I am sure you have a running list of things you would like to get better at or do more of going into 2025. Those things are great, but what about the things that actually matter? What about Jesus? Is He something you just fit into your schedule when it permits, or does everything else flow from your personal relationship with Him?

We get asked quite often how to practically get serious about living for Jesus, and I pray this list is one you can refer to time and time again to help you do exactly that.

Here are 25 things I believe Christians should do in 2025!

  1. Read the Bible in a year. This will most likely be the first thing I put on every list we create here at The Few. We know and trust that the Word of God does not return void, meaning that it will always produce beauty and righteousness within our hearts if our soul’s hunger for it and apply it. This is the goal I would encourage you to follow through with in 2025 even if it means you don’t accomplish anything else. My boyfriend and I are prioritizing this and I am so looking forward to seeing how the Lord grows us in the process! Here is the plan I love and have used for a few years now: https://www.proclaimstreetwear.com/
  2. Commit yourself to a small group that meets weekly. If you don’t know of a group you’re interested in investing in, start one yourself and invite a few friends to join you each week! This doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Our small group met in our living room for a few years, and we made some of the best memories as we all grew closer to Jesus. We were never, ever meant to do life alone. We must ditch the idea that living life online is going to get us somewhere. Just take a look around. We’re not happy, and we’re certainly not thriving. We desperately need to start embracing how God intended life to be lived: together.
  3. Use our Blog posts as a devotional resource for yourself, your small group (or groups), and church groups/congregations. We have been blogging since 2019, so we have an excellent archive of posts that are free to read at any time you so choose! You could read one a day as part of your devotional time, or share them in more of a lesson format within your small groups and/or church groups. We publish a new post every Thursday, so new ones are always being added that we promise will be honest, encouraging as well as challenging, and written to help the American Church seek Jesus in the ways she desperately needs to.
  4. Get involved in your local politics. Words cannot describe how incredibly thankful I am for the undeserved opportunity God has given our great country this past election. Duty is ours, and we must work tirelessly to preserve the freedom God has granted to us. Our efforts must begin in our local politics and God must be put at the center of all we do and the choices our communities make. Some practical first steps would include following Turning Point USA on social media, educating yourself about the significance of politics, familiarizing yourself with you local leaders, volunteering within your own community, and becoming an educated and active voter.
  5. Keep the sabbath holy. This is one of my personal goals for 2025, and something I will admit I haven’t done very well over the last few years. It’s easy to let Sundays become the “catch all” day before beginning a new week, but intentionally setting aside a day to give wholly and completely to the Lord is something we are commanded to do and should take more seriously. This gives us the time we need to rest spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I believe this simple habit has the power to set the tone for our entire week and will help us to keep our priorities in line.
  6. Start your day by listening to at least one worship song. One of my goals for 2025 is to start each morning by listening to at least one worship song and allowing that to be what sets the tone for my day! You can start by listening to our worship playlist (click here) while you’re in the car, at work, or studying for that next quiz. We add new songs that we’re loving all the time, and truly believe that this can impact your life in so many positive ways!
  7. Choose daily surrender instead of control. Maybe we were never meant to be harried and hurried. Maybe the enemy tricks us into grasping for control when surrender is what will fulfill and satisfy the deepest longings we contain within ourselves. Our lives should be marked by intentionality, stillness, prayer, worship, serious community, and consistent ministry. You and I both know we won’t get to everything on our to do list this year or accomplish every goal we intend to meet. That’s okay. There’s really only one thing you need this year anyway, and that my friend, is an all-consuming relationship with Jesus. When you get ahold of this Jesus thing, suddenly life becomes centered around surrender and selflessness.
  8. Attend a Christian concert with a couple close friends/family members. One of the best things we did as a Bible Study group in 2024 was attend a Josiah Queen and Chris Renzema concert (you can see some pics on our social media pages from this past November)! We worshiped our hearts out together and recounted the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness to us. It was an opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and re-prioritize Him in the ways we needed to!
  9. Spend at least 25 minutes in prayer each day. Practice listening to what God wants to speak to you. Maybe this time needs to happen in the morning after you study Scripture, or perhaps it’s on your lunch break, or right before you get ready to go to bed. Make it happen. Many of us spend much more than 25 minutes on our phones each day, just go look at your screen time report.
  10. Reflect on your everyday life daily/weekly. This allows you to move forward in intentionality throughout the year, day-by-day, week-by-week, month-by-month. Just as the Lord asked Adam and Eve when they were hiding in the Garden of Eden, “Where are you?” He also asks the same question of us. It is through our personal response to this question that we can examine where we are ultimately going and what kind of progress we are making.
  11. Take a social media sabbatical often. I believe this looks different for each person and depends on the degree to which they are addicted. However, taking a break from social media is always a good idea. It gives you the chance to examine how much you are using it, if you are being tempted to compare yourself to others online, and if you are being truly present in your day to day life. For example, I take every Sunday off of social media and sometimes longer breaks during vacations/trips. This provides me with a great reset mentally!
  12. Remember that life is not a race to the finish line. We are prone to believe that if we are not moving faster than everyone around us then we must be failing at life. This is not true and can cause us to live miserable lives if we allow ourselves to stay stuck in this kind of mindset. Slow and intentional living allows us to hear the voice of God and respond in obedience, which is so much more important than keeping up with worldly standards and trends.
  13. Make every effort to hear what God is speaking to us in our day and age. This may seem simple, but I can’t help but wonder how many Christians are actually hearing from the Lord when we are surrounded by the incessant noise that comes from the worldly happenings around us. Genuinely hearing from the Lord requires us to tuck ourselves away from the world and provide Him with the time He needs to reveal to us what is on His heart. Not only should we know and believe the things God spoke to others long ago, but we should know and believe that He still speaks today and that He longs to speak to us.
  14. Don’t idolize your feelings. It’s extremely easy to get caught up in our feelings and to choose to follow Jesus when life is going well, but then idolize our own feelings when life is not going well and we are struggling. Often, we put our feelings above Jesus and our faithfulness to Him regardless of circumstances. Make every effort to remind yourself that your feelings aren’t always truth, and trust in Jesus must be our first and only response despite where we may find ourselves in life this year.
  15. Avoid watching shows/movies/reels/Tik Toks that are full of inappropriate junk. This is an area of life far too many Christians let slide, and one the enemy is using to strip us of our purity. It is my firm belief that Christians would be much better off and that at least half of their mental struggles would quickly disappear if they were to cut the cords to their TVs and delete Tik Tok from their devices.
  16. Let go of bitterness and resentment. If you have been holding on to bitterness this is the year to give it up and allow the Lord to heal the open wound you aren’t allowing to heal. Begin to seek Jesus regarding the situation and allow Him to show you how you can find healing and steal back your joy from the enemy. The enemy wants nothing more than for you to hold on to the hurt you are feeling, and to keep you from finding the freedom the Lord wants you to experience through forgiveness. Jesus is inviting you to forgive and let go.
  17. Download our free, Christian Resources page HERE. This page was created for the Christian who wants to build upon a firm foundation. It covers some of the basic areas of life that should be impacted by the Lord if you want to intentionally live for Him. We have included things like books, accountability, podcasts, and movies, just to name a few. It’s also a great practical tool for brand new Believers and for those discipling others!
  18. Live a healthy lifestyle. This is a goal many of us begin each new year with, yet it can be quite difficult to stick to throughout the year. I have been feeling more convicted than ever before to honor and glorify God with my health, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Practically speaking, begin by choosing the healthiest option in every situation you may find yourself in. Introduce small but transforming disciplines such as walking for 30 minutes a day, drinking plenty of water, prioritizing sleep, not snacking as much, and cutting out harmful and toxic products. My goal for 2025 is to become 1% better and healthier each day!
  19. Discover an older, classic author to read and enjoy. There are so many excellent authors who have written challenging and thought-provoking books the American Church could greatly benefit from. Here are some authors to explore this year: C. S. Lewis, Watchman Nee, A. W. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, J. R. R. Tolkien, G. K. Chesterton, etc.
  20. Memorize a passage of Scripture that speaks to a personal struggle you have or certain circumstance you are walking through! Being able to contemplate Scripture and remind ourselves of it daily is one of the most powerful things we can do. Take Scripture to heart, know what it says, live it out in each and every trying situation you encounter this year.
  21. Listen to our Podcast, “A Few Minutes With The Few” every Monday! We don’t shy away from the super difficult topics when it comes to Christianity, the American Church, and all the different things we face in life. Click that play button to let us help you get serious about living for Jesus and make some radical choices! LISTEN HERE.
  22. Keep a prayer journal and record all of your requests as well as the ways God moves in 2025. Being able to recount the Lord’s faithfulness to you is one of the best sources of encouragement, and provides you with the most important of reminders when you are struggling to depend on God’s trustworthiness in the midst of pain and brokenness. I would encourage you to dedicate a specific notebook to prayer requests and begin pouring time and effort into it each week. Then, at the end of the year, you will be able to look back on the goodness and the greatness of our God and how He worked not only your life, but also in the lives of those around you.
  23. Prioritize repentance and humility. These are two Christian characteristics most of us would be clueless how to answer someone if they were to ask us how to cultivate them. Humility is the soil in which repentance can take root and flourish. Humility enables us to recognize our sinfulness and great need for God’s mercy, which lays the foundation for genuine repentance to take place. James 4:6-10 captures this dynamic as it says, “But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” Prioritizing repentance and humility is a daily process we must be willing to work through with the Spirit’s help as we increase in Christlikeness.
  24. Work with your hands (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Let’s not neglect hard work this year. We were made to pour ourselves into our work in order that it may become a pleasing and glorifying offering to the Lord. No matter your job, I challenge you to do it diligently and with passion and excellence. Viewing our work as a way to serve the Lord makes it meaningful and impactful.
  25. Educate yourself about the End Times and dive into the book of Revelation. If you have been in church for even just a little bit of time, you probably know terms like, “the great tribulation,” “judgment day,” “the antichrist,” but I can almost guarantee that most of us have no idea what they’re all about. Googling the End Times can leave you with a large array of explanations, including many doomsday predictions and theorizing, which usually leads to a lot of uncertainty. I would encourage you seek out some solid, good resources such as the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins or After the Rapture by David Jeremiah. These resources will equip you with a wealth of necessary knowledge about the End Times and encourage you to be ready for the Second Coming of Christ!

  1. I love this so much !!!! Thanks so much for sharing your thought out list. This is definitely a time the Lord has been leading me to not only follow behind Him but WALK aside with Him daily. He has been giving me a lot of verses regarding plans and I have been doing my best to meditate on them and figure out what He is relaying. 😊
