Today is currently Day Three of “Election Day” here in America. Across the U.S., Americans are gathered around their TVs watching the news or glued to their smart phones constantly refreshing the “2020 Presidential Election Results” tab. Whether your attitude is one of victory or one of defeat, we all remain a bit anxious about the outcome.
As I’ve said in previous blog posts, I am currently in the middle of taking an American Government college class this semester. I thank God every single day, and sometimes multiple times a day that I chose to take this class at this especially crucial time in history.
I am learning more about the Lord’s character and how the founding of our great country represents Him. I am coming more boldly to throne of God asking for His mercy and grace to be poured out on our country in the midst of chaos and utter confusion.
And today, after spending much time fighting for America in prayer, I feel that the Lord wants me to remind us all of a truth that we may have forgotten.
I believe that we currently have the next best government to what Jesus will one day provide. One day, we will get to experience Jesus’ idea of government, and He will be the only authority in Heaven and on earth.
However, I do believe that the Lord gave our Founding Fathers knowledge and wisdom that only comes from Him when they were creating the system we use today. I think that American government offers an extremely small insight into what the ultimate government will be like when Jesus comes back.
I love this quote by John Adams who once said, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion… Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
We were created to be a religious nation who implores God’s protection and is grateful for His many blessings. The reason our government is becoming corrupt is because we have strayed from what that very quote mentioned: morality and religion.
Proverbs 11:3 says, “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.”
Just to be very blunt with you, I feel that the American Church has completely given up on morality and religion and is using the “God is in control” slogan as an excuse not to fight and do the hard things that will be necessary if we have any desire to keep our nation a free one.
“Christians” will not say this to your face, but they think that evil has already won in this election and that there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
Here is the reminder we have forgotten, time and time again… God doesn’t let evil prevail for no reason. I am quickly coming to the conclusion that His purpose for allowing evil to be so evident in this time is because He wants us to stop being cowardly Christians.
Which, by the way, cowardice is the first thing listed in Revelation 21:8 when He talks about the second death, even before the faithless! Go look it up if you think I’m kidding.
I had a friend text me last night, and she was expressing how she just wanted all of this craziness to be over, and I totally understand that feeling. But, you know, I think the Lord is using this waiting time to refine us and help us see that we are broken and absolutely lost without Him. There is nothing we can do except pray, and for some reason, God has a weird tendency to show up when we are helpless.
The problem that is becoming more evident, however, is that the American Church isn’t helpless nor do they realize how broken they truly are. We need that to happen.
Why?
Because I believe that only then will revival break out. Many Christians claim that they would die for Jesus if they had to. My question for all of us today is this… When will we die to ourselves?
“Duty is ours; results are God’s.” (John Adams)
SO WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE?
= Is morality important to you?
= Do you think the Church is broken before the Lord yet?
= What are you going to do differently?
You said, “One day, we will get to experience Jesus’ idea of government, and He will be the only authority in Heaven and on earth.”, <-and I just read Daniel 7 and Daniel 7:14 and 7:27 pop out to me regarding what you wrote. Which is crazy because I just got done reading it and then went straight to your blog to see what you wrote!
“However, I do believe that the Lord gave our Founding Fathers knowledge and wisdom that only comes from Him when they were creating the system we use today. I think that American government offers an extremely small insight into what the ultimate government will be like when Jesus comes back.” <- I agree, what we will experience next with Jesus will blow our minds! I think it will be a lot different (In a good way of course). How do you feel or what are your thoughts about when people say that our country was founded on white supremacy or patriarchy?
You are right we have strayed away from morality and religion (God’s Word). Just as in the Garden of Eden. They questioned God’s Word and authority.
In regards to the rest of your post, like you said maybe God is finding out His faithful ones. In John 4:23 it says, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." I was reading this story earlier actually, and when Jesus was speaking to the woman it made me think about how Jesus often actually went about things differently than most. It took a long time for women to be recognized, yet Jesus didn't seem to have a problem with including women. In this passage the people were shocked that Jesus was having a conversion with this particular woman.

Absolutely! I love this quote – “If God answers your prayer, he is increasing your faith. If he delays, he is increasing your patience. If he doesn’t answer, he is preparing the best for you.”(mediawebapps.com) I feel as if right now, God is delaying to increase our patience and faith. He is testing to see if Christians are willing to bow dow to him, and be PRAYER WARRIORS! Where are we at? “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”, said Jesus. Matt. 8:26 Although it may be challenging, don’t give up, and DON’T STOP BELIEVING how powerful our Lord is. He is going to use the 2020 Election for his greater glory and purpose.

You are exactly right! God is in control but we need to continuously pray for the world. He knows what he is doing, he has a purpose for everything. We can’t stop believing in good just for an election; it is not over. God is helping us fight. God is on the throne. God doesn’t want us to just ignore the election we need to know what is going on in the world but we cannot lose sight of the Lord.
