BEFORE THE FLOOD (BLOGMAS DAY TWENTY 2025)

(Post by: Colton)

We went to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky yesterday. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend you go and explore and learn about this masterpiece of a ship. It was simply incredible!

As we made our way through the Ark, there were various rooms full of biblical and historical facts which presented boldly and clearly the truth about God’s cleansing of the world. However, there was one spot that stood out to me the most.

It was called, “Humanity Before the Flood.”

Let me tell you that after walking through it and seeing all of the depictions… It seemed too familiar

The room begins by explaining the fall of humanity. We all know this age-old story of when Adam and Eve took a bite out of the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, resulting in the downfall of humanity. Sin entered the good world God had miraculously created out of nothing. Cain killed Able and allowed murder and death into the world. Then polygamy led to sexual immorality.

I could go on and on.

As we continued walking through this room the depictions grew increasingly more brutal. There were wars with villages burning, people being taken away from their homes, chaos, and complete destruction. In one little window you could look through, there was a colosseum where men were fighting for their lives; fighting animals, giants, and other men, while a crowd of people cheered for their death.

I want to remind you that this was a depiction of the world BEFORE the flood. The last little window you could look through was one I really can’t wrap my mind around. Even now.

The Temple of Molech. This temple depiction had steps going up to a golden snake which was wrapped around a big, golden bowl, and there was fire all around and in its eyes. There were men wearing masks standing on the side of the steps beating drums, all while people walked up these steps carrying something.

As I walked closer to the exhibit, I saw it. They were carrying children. Walking step by step, with a child in their arms to sacrifice to Molech.

If you walked a little further, there was an exhibit detailing how God cleansed the earth of this kind of evil with the flood. Wiping everything away, killing everything. Even destroying the temple of Molech. When I saw it, I felt two emotions very strongly. I was glad, but also worried. I was glad because God destroyed it and stopped the child sacrifice. But then a sense of worry came over me as I thought about how we went right back to that. Chaos, destruction, death, silent sacrifice within a mother’s womb.

And it’s being worshiped by millions.

So, if we have the same sin and evil culture, where’s our flood?

I know, I know. God promised us He would never do that again. We are reminded of that promise every time we see a rainbow.

But that flood man, I kind of long for that. I’m so tired of all the shootings, all the death, violence, literal destruction, and abortion.

As we drove down to Kentucky yesterday, Scott was listening to the news on the radio, and every single headline was absolutely horrible. Another death. Another shooting. It seriously discouraged me and on our way there I asked God, “Where in the world is our flood?”

It’s Christmas. That’s our flood. The birth of Jesus. He came down and took on flesh, to hang on a cross and let his blood flow out for the sin of the world.

Even to this very day, His blood is our way out of this mess. He is longing for you and me to realize this mess we are in. Jesus is longing for your faith. I’m telling you it will be the greatest thing you ever do. Because you won’t have to feel the wrath of the creator.

I was shown a video the other day of a lady being asked, “Why aren’t you afraid of the devil?” She laughed and responded with this… “How can you be afraid of the created? Instead of being more afraid of the Creator?”

Jesus is our salvation. He laid down His life so that we can trust Him and live for eternity right next to Him.

What’s stopping you from getting on the boat?
