TWO TINY CLASSROOMS (BLOGMAS DAY ONE 2025)

(Post by: Lilly Hobbs)

Whew, hello everyone, and welcome to day ONE of Blogmas!

I say ‘whew’ because I just wrapped up a full day of teaching nearly 100 elementary students the story of the angel Gabriel coming to announce the good news of Jesus’ coming to both Zechariah and Mary.

I felt a little like Gabriel myself by the end of it!

It was a bit of a rough start this morning, attempting to get out the door before 8:00am in the bitter cold. I was running a few minutes behind, and was lugging about seven bags with me, some full of binders and papers and some full of Christmas items and décor.

As I made my early morning commute, I began praying for my students and the day ahead, and then I passed one of my close friend’s businesses and I prayed that the Lord would bless her. I thought about those that I know who are sick and in need of healing and I prayed over them. I passed many small churches, some that I’m sure are thriving and others that look as though they could be abandoned, and I asked the Lord to make them fruitful.

It was a beautiful time in prayer and in the Lord’s presence before my day “officially” started.

On my drive home, I listened to Christmas music as the snowflakes began to slowly fall, and I was incredibly overwhelmed by the Lord’s goodness and praised Him for allowing me to spend the first day of December in two tiny classrooms.

These students are so excited to celebrate Christmas, honestly more excited than I have been (which I would say has been a good bit, lol)!

You should have been there to see their sweet faces light up as I shared that we would be discussing the birth of Jesus and the good news of His coming!

I wonder if the same could be said of us today?

Are you actually excited about and hopeful for what the Lord wants to do in your heart and life this December?

You realize we have the opportunity to truly celebrate the best news, the greatest news in the course of human history all month long, right? Of course, the celebration should really never stop.

I pray my face lights up every December, the same way I saw my student’s faces light up today.

The Lord used those two tiny classrooms to remind me of the greatness of God and how this Christmas time is not to be neglected or wasted, and I hope I am able to relay that reminder to you as well, dear reader.

Be wildly excited for Christmas this year. Go all out with the decorations. Throw the parties. Enjoy the food. Make the snow angels. Cherish those you love. But most importantly, rejoice in the good news of Christ’s coming!

To two tiny classrooms today, it was the best news ever, and it should be to us as well.
