HIS BIRTH MEANS HE IS ENOUGH

(Guest post by: Rocky Cigler) Blogmas Day Twenty-Six 2024

It is Christmas Time again! A time to reflect on the birth of our Lord God Almighty! In this time, we should be thankful for the past and hopeful for the future, because found wrapped in a manger were healings of the past and promises for the future!

So, as I feel a little extra blessed today to be sitting exactly where I am with exactly what I have in life, I take time to reflect. Philippians chapter 2 tells us to, “Have the same mind that Christ Jesus had…”

Well, if that is so, then what mind was this? Jesus is God. However, He did not act prideful and walk around with this God complex on His shoulder and pridefully boast in this manner. As a matter of fact, Scripture tells us that He did not consider equality with God something to be clinged to (Phil. 2:6).

So, this tells us that we should refrain, from this moment forward, from acting as if we are god. This is something I have had to learn at great lengths. For this I am thankful!

I stand today by faith knowing that in the name of Jesus my family will be saved and healed from all of our youthful lusts and sins that separated us from the Holy One!

You see, I had to learn that Jesus is enough! What do I mean? Well, I unfortunately thought that “I had control of my life” when in fact I did not.

Scripture tells us in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him!”

Since my demise as a “believer,” I have learned some very life altering things about who I thought I was versus who I actually am. You see I thought, subconsciously, it was about me being acknowledged, praised, and merited by the things that I was doing “in the name of Jesus.” A mistake achieved by so many of us “leaders of the faith.”

We get saved and all of a sudden, we are off to save everyone and never take the time to deal with the root issues of our own sin. So, we unfortunately end up falling and people we were leading and caring for fall too. Why?

Because we did not ask Jesus to be enough! So enough was never enough and we got caught in the trap of needing and wanting more.

How does all this tie together? Jesus gave up His divine privileges and humbled Himself by taking the form of a bondservant. He humbled Himself in order to be obedient to God. He then died a criminal’s death on a cross so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess Jesus as Lord!

Without faith you cannot please God! If you choose to come after Him, you must believe that He is (that He is enough and is all and in all). This is the kind of belief that is incomprehensible.

This is a huge healing for so many entangled with such deep hurts from the past. But it is also a huge blessing to so many for promises of a future that is filled with the simple beauty of the Gospel! Jesus came to be born of a virgin, live as a martyr, die as a criminal, and be resurrected as the King of all Kings!

So for you and I, His birth means He is enough! His death means He is enough! His resurrection means He is enough!

As you walk away from this, know that Jesus is enough, and He rewards those who diligently seek after Him. With peace and good tidings, Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours!
