ONE ESCAPE

(Post by: Colton)

Do we really believe? That is the question that I am wrestling with as I write this. Why do we praise and pray and seek Jesus, yet in the back of our minds, we tend to ask, “Will He really come back?” “Will He really roll the heavens back like a scroll and come down the same way He went up all those years ago?” “Will He really take all of us believing and professing Christians up with Him in an instant?”

I have an urgency to address these questions even in my own mind, due to the crazy events happening in our world. From the political uproar that seems like an everyday reminder of just how LOST America is to the war that is raging between Israel and Iran, we are in turmoil.

The media will tell you everything is fine and dandy; that the world is in great shape. Yet all we see is chaos and destruction. That, ladies and gentlemen, is straight from Satan himself. He is the master of deceit and destruction.

I don’t want to give the devil too much credit; but take a moment and look around. Everywhere you turn, either something is on fire, someone was murdered, or people are protesting and chanting “death to Israel” or “abortion is a right.”

The amount of gay propaganda that is pushed openly is baffling, and Christians shake their heads and say, “Lord help them.” That’s you! That’s me! We ARE their help! That’s the reason Jesus died, to save us ALL, and for those of us who are saved to help bring the lost to Christ. We are to help rescue them from the talons the devil has dug into their hearts.

The aggression of the enemy will never stop. In fact, it will only continue to grow. What we must address is our own passivity in Christ.

So, why do we ask, “Is Jesus really coming soon?” We ask because the enemy has distracted us for centuries. I would like to suggest that perhaps the devil’s favorite story is, The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 says, “Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

“Peace and safety” are two things the world claims it wants. However, a world that so easily and willingly bows down to Satan is a world that will never experience peace and safety. We will forever be in a state of chaos and destruction until something changes.

My prayer is that Jesus will come back and rescue us from the present-day Sodom and Gomorrah we are living in. We know how that story ended for them. (If you aren’t familiar with the story, both cities were absolutely destroyed by God because they turned away from Him Genesis 19:1-29).

A lot of us would rather run off a cliff into an abyss of nothing, than go upstream against the world and chase after Jesus and truth.

Satan is holding tightly to the world we live in. Satan will make us look away from Jesus, as even he knows that Jesus’ return is so very imminent.

Satan wants to drag you down with him because he knows he will lose when Jesus comes back, and the only way to hurt Jesus is to turn you away from Him.

So, who’s side are you on? There is only one escape from the things of this world. Jesus.

SO, WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE?

= How are you preparing for Jesus’ return?

= In what ways do you think Christians can address their passivity?

= What are you going to do differently?
