WHAT IF?

(Post by: Colton)

What if Jesus told you when He was coming back? What if He sat down right beside you and said, “Hey, so I’m coming back tomorrow and it’s going to be awesome, but I have no idea who you are.”

What would your first thought be? What would your initial reaction be? Would you panic and be anxious, or would you walk away and try to forget the encounter?

As Christians, we have been waiting for two thousand years for our Savior to come back to His people. Two thousand years is a pretty long time, and when something has been discussed for that amount of time, often the importance and the urgency grows quieter and quieter day by day.

However, after only being saved for a year and a half now, Christ’s coming is a conversation that continues to get louder and louder in my own life. I believe our Savior is coming very soon!

Hebrews 9:28 says, “So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.”

The thought of Jesus coming back is exciting, yet if I’m being honest, it is also pretty scary. It’s scary because of the fact that I personally know many unsaved people that would not be with Jesus in glory. Some of my own family members that aren’t saved would remain on earth to endure the trauma and destruction the seven-year tribulation will bring.

We should all have a great sense of urgency to spread the good news about Jesus with others because He isn’t going to tell us when He’s coming back.

If He did, we would all run to our family and friends that we know aren’t saved. We would repent and plead with God. We would get all dressed up and be anticipating the return of our Savior. We would stand outside on that very day and watch the sky as Jesus comes back.

However, that isn’t going to happen. No, He is going to come back when none of us expect Him to.

We aren’t going to get another chance to share the good news of the Gospel with our families and friends after He comes back.

This is why I have such an urgency to write about this. I believe Jesus is coming soon. He could come tomorrow, next month, or next year but the point is that He is coming soon.

We aren’t going to get the chance to say, “Hey Jesus, I didn’t tell my brother about you. Could I go back and tell him and see what he says?” We must be bold to share who Jesus is and how close His coming truly is.

What if you prayed with someone on the street and were able to see them in eternity?

What if you shared the Gospel at your next family reunion and your family gets saved and gets to worship Jesus in Heaven for eternity?

But what if you don’t?

“Now, almost 2,000 years later, most professing believers consider the coming of the Lord to be a subject to be avoided. Unfortunately, most professing believers are biblically illiterate.” – Mike Wingfield

SO, WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE?

= Who do you feel like the Lord wants you to share the Gospel with this week?

= Who in your life needs to read this post?

= What are you going to do differently?
