I sit here, staring at this computer screen, quite simply broken hearted. Broken hearted for our state and for our country, for future generations, and for the lost souls that we have failed.
On November 7, 2023, Ohio became the seventh state to pass a constitutional amendment allowing abortion up to the point of fetal viability. It was portrayed as a “Reproductive Rights” issue. The lies were abundant, and the devil did what he always does; twist the truth and foster fear.
I blame the Church (this includes me), in large part, for allowing this to happen without a fight, at least not much of one anyway. I have been thinking back, asking myself how this happened.
I remembered that during the C o v i d v a c c i n a t i o n push, there was little to no discussion, even in the Christian community, regarding the use of aborted fetal tissue in the v a c c i n e. Because the Church did not inform parishioners of this truth, many got the v a c c i n e without knowing they were being injected with aborted fetal tissue. Even more concerning, many pastors and Christians, who did know the truth, chose to get the vaccine anyway.
Then, in June 2022, the Lord laid a huge victory in our laps with the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Again, we heard very little from the Church. We blatantly squandered that blessing. The Church was handed an opportunity to reach out to women and offer our support in choosing life. We sat idly by and wasted it.
When Issue 1 was proposed, and during the weeks leading up to this vote, many church-goers we spoke with said their pastor/church had not said a word about it.
It goes back even farther, though. How many years have we stood silently by and allowed the public school system to indoctrinate our children with all manner of lies that spit in the face of God and deny His very existence?
No wonder the enemy has had no problem getting a majority of Americans to buy into his anti-Christian agenda. The Church has done precious little to stop him for several generations now.
We hear so much about being “progressive”. The world says, “The Church must become relevant to the current culture.” “We must be accepting and inclusive; love at all costs.”
Friends, the costs are now the lives of the unborn and the souls of your children and grandchildren. That cost is too high for me to sit back and be quiet and polite any longer!
I heard a C. S. Lewis quote this morning that aptly applies to the Church today. It says,
“Progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”
Christians, we have collectively taken a woefully wrong turn. We are most definitely on the wrong road. Going forward on that road is taking us farther and farther away from Christ.
I agree that we must love everyone. It is commanded by Jesus. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)
However, we are not truly loving when we allow people to walk into the snares of the enemy and believe the lies he is promoting with such craftiness and vigor. We must love by sharing the truth unapologetically!
We will only make true progress by doing an about-turn and running straight back to our roots; getting back to the point in time when the Church was effective and impactful on the culture, not bowing down to it. Otherwise, we are marching blindly onward to destruction, and we are taking our children, and their children, and their children with us.
Christian, let’s strive to be the most progressive man by getting back to the road laid by Jesus!
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
SO, WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE?
= How can you be bold and fight for life in your little corner of the world?
= In what ways can you encourage your local church to educate your community about abortion and what this new amendment entails?
= What are you going to do differently?
