A FEW FAVORITES FROM THE MONTH OF JUNE 2025

Happy July! June was a powerful month here at The Fewโ€”full of bold conversations, honest reflections, and a deeper call to revival. As we head into summer, weโ€™re taking a moment to look back at what God did through the content we shared this past month. 7/10/25

CAMP MEETING, HOLINESS, AND HAMBURGERS

While camp meeting is still a place where God moves in phenomenal ways; I wonder why we donโ€™t see the commitment to, and the results from it, like the old saints have told me stories about. My contention would be that we don't really want what God usually brings along with such commitment. 6/27/25

THE SAFEST PLACE FOR SUFFERING

Thereโ€™s not much worse than hearing pretty Christian clichรฉs and reading feel-good posts that everything is going to be alright and that youโ€™re doing a great job when youโ€™re currently in the fire being refined. I write this to you today because nothing has brought me more hope and inspired me to be all the more faithful than the fact that Jesus Himself is the safest place for my suffering. 6/19/25

TEN TRUTHS ABOUT REVIVAL WE CAN’T IGNORE

We donโ€™t need more entertainment or surface-level spirituality. Weโ€™re hungry for something real, for something that matters. What if we became the generation that chased after Jesus so fiercely that revival became our reality? 6/12/25

A FEW FAVORITES FROM THE MONTH OF MAY

Happy June! The month of May felt like a beautiful blend of deep conversations, creative rhythms, and little reminders of why we started The Few in the first place. From celebrating five years of podcasting and six years of blogging (what?!), to answering rapid-fire questions about faith, sin, and spiritual honesty, this month pushed us to think more intentionally, and to reflect on all that the Lord is doing within our lives. 6/5/25

THE UNDRAGONING OF EUSTACE SCRUBB

At first, Eustace, who was indeed prideful, yet incredibly insecure in his human nature, was relieved to find that he had been turned into the biggest, most dangerous creature around, until he realizes that this creature he has become cuts him off from humanity. It cuts him off from the human he is supposed to become. 5/29/25

WHEN THE MIND IS A BATTLEFIELD

In order for us to win the mind game, we must live in the Lordโ€™s presence. I can confidently write that every time I have been in the presence of Jesus, I have never felt overwhelmed with fear and anxiety because His perfect love casts out all of my fear (1 John 4:18). 5/22/25

REMEMBER THE ONE WHO FORMED THE STONE

But what do we do when we still donโ€™t have answers? What do we do when we still want to hear His voice, but it feels like weโ€™re being stonewalled? These were the exact questions I was contemplating while doing a mundane task and listening to an online conference I had missed when it originally came out. 5/8/25

THE LAST BROKEN THING

I know some of us still feel as if we are broken in a million pieces at His feet. Weโ€™re left wondering whatโ€™s next? How does this whole โ€œJesus thingโ€ impact tomorrow, even? For just a second, I would like to focus our attention on one simple phrase that has done nothing less than change the world because it is secured in an undeniable fact. I just want you to know that this changed my life. 4/20/25

BROKEN BY HIM, FOR THEM

Let your heart be broken open to Jesus, through the pain. Let Him break down every instinct to self-protect. Go to the garden of your own Gethsemane, get on your knees, stay awake, and pray. 4/17/25

THE PASSIVITY OF PEACETIME ASSUMPTIONS

Jesus knew that bringing peace between man and God would be no small matter, but would be a matter that would require the ultimate sacrifice of His life. He was willing to do whatever needed to be done in order to make a way for me and you to have a relationship with Him, even if it was dangerous, uncomfortable, and caused division. 4/15/25

THE SCENT OF A KING

Can you just imagine the thoughts of the priests in the temple as Jesus throws over the money changing tables or the guards who arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane? What about those who cast lots for his robe? Would they have caught a whiff of the perfume and got a sinking feeling, wondering who this man really was? 4/14/25

FAITH WITHOUT A CEILING

If thereโ€™s anything you take from this story let it be thisโ€ฆย Jesus is so worth the risks. Everything weโ€™ve ever needed He is. Too many of us are playing it safe when Jesus is saying,ย โ€œCome on, try me. All thatโ€™s necessary is faith without a ceiling.โ€ 3/27/25

BE LIKE BILL

Bill was a living, breathing example of exactly how Jesus wants us all to live. He would want his life to show us exactly that. He would always pray for the Lord to use him however He wanted. I believe that prayer has been answered; I know it has been in my life. 3/13/25

A FEW FAVORITES FROM THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2025

Happy March! Our February was quite an adventure. It was a busy month of school for Madie and I, and we have been incredibly thankful for a small break this week in between school sessions! It is hard to believe we are beginning the journey of Lent this week, and that Spring feels as though it is just about to bring a warm and inviting welcome! 3/6/25

HOLY GRIT

What I have learned these past months is that the Lord respects holy grit. He respects a pursuit of answers, even if He may not be ready to give them yet. 2/27/25

LET THE ARROWS FLY

But, I was thinking afterward, โ€œHow did Hannah give up this son that she so desperately desired?โ€ Of course she wanted her son for herself, but she wanted her son for Godโ€™s glory even more! She wanted a child who would serve the LORD, glorify Him, and further His Kingdom. 2/20/25

A FEW FAVORITES FROM THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2025

Happy February! Iโ€™m thrilled to get to share with you our very first monthly favorites post of 2025! January felt like a long month, but it was full of a multitude of excellent content from some of our favorite guest writers. Madie & I are looking forward to an excellent year in which we can discover more of who God is alongside each of you! 2/6/25

NEAR TO THE SHEPHERD

It is obvious the Shepherd doesnโ€™t beat His sheep into following Him, but do we meditate on the truths of who He is that sadly may not be as obvious to us whenever we might fall into forgetfulness? 1/30/25

FIRST, NOT LAST

Here is my question. Why is it that the first place we should go for any answer (hope) to any of our questions or situations, is typically our last? I often believe that I know enough, am smart enough, or can get through anything by myself. But like most of you, if we are going to be transparent, when I get to the end of my rope, THAT is when I seek the Lord! 1/23/25

OUR OLD, DEAD SELF

I believe that continuing to see ourselves as sinners after we are saved is wrong, and that wrong view of ourselves has a hugely negative impact on our growth as Christians. It keeps us right where the enemy wants us; not living in the fullness of Christ! 1/16/25

TWENTY-FIVE THINGS CHRISTIANS SHOULD DO IN 2025

This isnโ€™t your typical Christian to-do list you would normally see while scrolling through Pinterest. This list is specifically curated for those who want to strive to be creatively intentional about living a deep and meaningful Christian life in 2025. 1/9/25

A FEW FAVORITES FROM THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2024

Happy January and happy New Year! This is our very first post of 2025 and I am so looking forward to seeing how the Lord is going to move in our lives this year! December was one of the best months here at The Few, as we posted a new post every day in December for Blogmas, and multiple new podcast episodes over on our show, A Few Minutes With The Few! 1/2/25

WORTH THE WAIT

As we enter this new year together, though it may be littered with uncertainty and we may feel trepidation, what awaits us may in fact be beauty, respite, and life. Whatever lies ahead, we shall face the growing dawn with clean swords, thick armor, and hearts confident in one thing. 12/31/24

SHADOWS OF GREAT THINGS TO COME

Foster gratitude within your heart for Christโ€™s death, thanking God that we can have a relationship with Him if we are covered by His blood.ย Revel in the anticipation of the day you will see Him face to face and all will be made perfect. 12/28/24

HIS BIRTH MEANS HE IS ENOUGH

Jesus came to be born of a virgin, live as a martyr, die as a criminal, and be resurrected as the King of all Kings! So for you and I, His birth means He is enough! His death means He is enough! His resurrection means He is enough! 12/26/24

GLORIA IN PROFUNDIS

Happy Sunday and Merry Christmas, everyone! We pray that your week was full of Jesusโ€™ presence and that you are experiencing Him this Christmas season. Letโ€™s take some time to pause today by reading another beautiful poem by G. K. Chesterton! 12/22/24

DEAR JESUS

Unlike Santa whom the world worships, we donโ€™t have to ask for a single thing from Jesus. He knows us. He knows what we need and what we desire with our hearts. He knows what is good for us. Heโ€™s already in pursuit of us. This is the beauty of Christmas. Heโ€™s always there waiting for us to make that leap of faith, allowing Him to lead us and be Lord of our lives. 12/20/24

TREASURES IN HEAVEN

These gifts aren't like the ones wrapped in paper and tied with ribbon that donโ€™t last, either. Weโ€™re storing up treasures, gifts, in Heaven forย all eternity. The enemy cannot take what treasures we have placed in Heaven with our praise. Those treasures of mine often look like people and moments; thatโ€™s what we can take with us to heaven. 12/14/24

IT IS TIME TO BE MOST HUMAN

So, what then does it mean to be truly human, a species which embodies all of these things? Quite frankly, to be human is to be a baby in a manger. To be most human is to be a figure which voluntarily self-sacrifices for others. Because that baby in a manger we somehow forget to celebrate in all the hubbub of this industrialized season, is the only one who got it right. 12/10/24

WHAT DOES CHRISTMAS CONSIDER OF YOU?

When you are young, Christmas loves you unconditionally. As you get older, though, it expects a little more pursuit on your end. It pulls back a little and beckons you to step forward and fill the space. It asks you to give it just as much of your magic in being alive, and breathing, and created to glorify the Divine, as it gives to you of its magic. For without these things where does the magic really lie? 12/3/24

FAITH AND OBEDIENCE

In this moment, I knew I had to stand strong, ignore whatever fears the enemy may tempt me with, and be bold in that courtroom. I had no idea what I was going to say walking in there, but I had a strange sense of peace. It was like the Lord was speaking directly through me, I had no idea what was happening, but because of my faith and obedience the Lord was able to do what I thought was impossible.ย 11/14/24

IT’S GAME ON… THIS WEEK ON “A FEW MINUTES WITH THE FEW”

In light of the tremendously exciting news of the Election results, there will be no new blog post today. Instead, we recorded a very special episode for you to listen to detailing all our thoughts on Trumpโ€™s tremendous victory, the response of the Church, and how weโ€™re looking forward to the dawn of the Golden Age of America! 11/7/2024

THE ART OF OBSERVING, NOT ABSORBING

My challenge for us, as true Believers, is to cultivate the art of observation. Let us intently study our world and the people within it. Let us educate ourselves about worldviews and religions. Let us understand how the enemy is presently deceiving lost souls regarding policies and politics.

A DIFFERENT CLOSENESS

One thing I have realized is that though this is a different closeness than the one I experienced a couple months ago, it is still closeness. Before, it was as though the Lord and I were walking calmly hand in hand, smiling at each other as we both walked into the plan He set up. Now, weโ€™re bent over, head-to-head, our sweat is mingled together, we wear each otherโ€™s blood, and I keep asking the same question again and again.

ONE ESCAPE

The aggression of the enemy will never stop. In fact, it will only continue to grow. What we must address is our own passivity in Christ. A lot of us would rather run off a cliff into an abyss of nothing, than go upstream against the world and chase after Jesus and truth.

IN THE RUBBLE AND THE RUIN

The beautiful truth I feel as though I am learning daily is that while everything around me appears to be rubble and ruin, and all of it is so very unfamiliar, the Lord is proving His good and faithful character to me. He is all that remains in the rubble and the ruin, He is my familiar thing.

THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS

Christ, however, came to defeat death and all that it brought with it. On that old rugged cross, Christ took on every part of our ugliness. Can you imagine? The very incarnation of beauty itself was made hideously ugly. Not only does the Lord seek to restore that beauty and innocence by inviting us to die to ourselves and experience a glorious resurrection in Him, but He goes a step further.

FROM THE THROWS OF SORROW

For poetry is not always what we think. Many of us think of poetry as silly and sappy and full of romance. But often, poetry is what someone has created from the throws of sorrow. From the throws of betrayal and feeling as if their heart might burst from their very chest. I speak from much recent experience in this area.

WHAT IF?

As Christians, we have been waiting for two thousand years for our Savior to come back to His people. Two thousand years is a pretty long time, and when something has been discussed for that amount of time, often the importance and the urgency grows quieter and quieter day by day. However, after only being saved for a year and a half now, Christโ€™s coming is a conversation that continues to get louder and louder in my own life. I believe our Savior is coming very soon!

MY BLESSED DEFEAT

Defeat is quite the โ€œgospelโ€ kind of concept, donโ€™t you think? It is a concept which is completely backwards in our minds, in the world around us, and in our feelings. But I have often found that the only gospel worth believing in tends to follow this pattern. A pattern which looks entirely foolish to those who have not been changed by it.

WHAT MAKES A MAN GO WILD?

One of the things that always strikes me about Lucy is how willing she is to confront difficult questions and thoughts, and how optimistic she is that Aslan will always make the wrong right again. I have been recently considering one of Lucyโ€™s contemplations in which she makes a profound statement I hope will never leave my memory.

THE LESSER LIGHT

Here is what I have come to ask you today: Are you alright with being the lesser light in a time of darkness if it will preserve the coming of day for future generations? Are we still willing to exercise power and maintain even a little light, though it is increasingly difficult to shine it, if it means that those coming after us will be able to expect a dawn?

WHERE WE TEND TO BE

You see, the Israelites were in the in-between, and they didnโ€™t make the most of it. Where we tend to be in life is somewhere between Egypt and Canaan, and for some reason we canโ€™t quite figure out what that in-between season looks like.

AND STILL OBEYS

Mankind has continued to forge chains that bind us and weigh us down. We lack the power to free ourselves from them, and our only hope of being set free lies outside of ourselves. If we will but open our hearts and minds, we will certainly discover that the blessings of obedience to Jesus alone are utterly astounding.

TO THE DISCOURAGED CHRISTIAN

It is true that the Christian life is not a constant high, and what matters more than anything else is where we run when we have feelings we canโ€™t deal with on our own. You see, discouragement is a beautiful part of the Christian life only because God uses it to bring us closer to Himself. He helps soften our hearts to feel what He feels, and it is in that moment, when we feel what He feels, that we can best care, love, and serve.

THEY WERE HOLDING ON TO SOMETHING

You can hope with all of your soul that it will work out in the end if you hold on to Jesus, to the stories which inspire us anew, and to the people like Samwise Gamgee who will always stick by your side and remind you of the things which really matter when you canโ€™t seem to remember yourself.

DIRTY CUPS

If we allow Jesus to show us the dirt inside our cups, the cups that may look clean on the outside, but are actually filthy on the inside (Matt. 23:25), He will cleanse them with His precious blood if we are willing to die to them. We will experience cleansing and deliverance if we immediately put the sins He shows us under His blood.

FAITH ISN’T FEARLESS

One thing that has surprised me about myself is how frustrated I can become due to the fear, grief, or suffering I am experiencing. I had convinced my heart and mind that I shouldnโ€™t give into feeling those things because faith doesnโ€™t operate like that. Thatโ€™s not true, however. Faith isnโ€™t fearless, and what matters in this struggle is how we address the fear we naturally experience. Itโ€™s an opportunity to trust the Lord with all that we are and all that we have.

TWENTY-FOUR THINGS CHRISTIANS SHOULD DO IN 2024

I am sure you have a running list of things you would like to get better at or do more of going into 2024.ย Those things are great, but what about the things that actually matter? What about Jesus?ย Is He something you just fit into your schedule when it permits, or does everything else flow from your personal relationship with Him?

HELLO 2024!

Our family has been incredibly blessed by the opportunities God has given us to preach the Gospel here, and we are so looking forward to what 2024 will bring!

PEACE

Enjoy this beautiful poem this evening by Henry Van Dyke! Happy New Yearโ€™s Eve, yโ€™all! ๐Ÿ™‚

ALL THE WORLD IS RIGHT

God wants to bless us, but sometimes that means that we must โ€œgive inโ€ to what He has for us and what He ultimately wants to be to us.ย Jesus so desperately wants to be your everything right now, but you have to first give Him your hand. I promise He will never let go.

DEATH IS JUST THE DOORWAY

The problem is our unwillingness to die with Christ, and if we will not die with Him, we cannot be raised with Him. C. S. Lewis once said, โ€œDie before you die. There is no chance after.โ€
